Structure: Proprietary nonprofit system

A product built and sold specifically for the nonprofit sector under a single vendor’s proprietary licence. The data model, application logic and interface belong entirely to that vendor’s product, regardless of the generic infrastructure it may run on, such as a database or cloud host.

This is typically the fastest and cheapest route to specific nonprofit functionality, since sector requirements such as tax receipting and membership dues are already built in. The usual trade-off is flexibility, since most vendors keep the data model fixed, though a minority allow new record types to be created.
