Volunteero is based in London, founded by Ashley Staines and Kedar Kasarekar, and was seed-funded by Octopus Ventures in 2022. It’s a small team serving organisations across the UK, Europe and US.
Functionality
Volunteero is a volunteer-engagement platform used mainly through its volunteer app, designed to engage volunteers and automate routine tasks rather than just keep records. Volunteers apply to opportunities posted on a public marketplace, then claim missions and shifts, check in, chat with coordinators, submit activity reports and expense claims, and earn digital badges in the app. Onboarding runs through a multi-stage workflow covering interviews, background checks, references and training, with automated reference requests. A separate client database records the beneficiaries volunteers support and is designed to sync with an existing CRM.
Localised features
The onboarding workflow includes a stage for starting and tracking DBS checks, the UK’s criminal-record checks.
Implementation model
Delivered directly by the vendor, marketed as completable in under 4 weeks. Some independent charity-data consultancies list Volunteero among the platforms they support.
