Aplos

Organisation & background

Aplos Software was founded in 2009 in Fresno, California, by Dan Kelly and Tim Goetz; Goetz previously served as an executive pastor and helped found two nonprofits. Aplos was acquired by Alpine Software Group in 2022, and is reportedly being integrated into a combined platform, Velora, alongside Raisely and Keela, as of August 2025.

Functionality

Aplos is a general nonprofit fund-accounting and fundraising platform, used across many nonprofit types including congregations. It provides true fund accounting, online donation processing, pledge and donor tracking, event registration, custom fields and tags on contact records, and financial reporting built for nonprofit compliance. It also prepares and files US nonprofit tax returns directly within the platform.

Localised features

Prepares and files US-specific nonprofit tax forms (Form 990-N and Form 990-EZ) directly within the platform – a genuine country-specific compliance feature, distinct from the general fund-accounting functionality above.

Implementation model

Self-service SaaS sign-up across tiered plans, with guided or self-directed onboarding options per the vendor’s site.

Hosting

Cloud-hosted by the vendor.
