Organisation & background
Submittable was founded in 2010 in Missoula, Montana, as Submishmash, originally for literary-journal submissions. It is venture-backed and in 2025 acquired WizeHive, bringing the Zengine grants platform and the Bright Funds and WeHero workplace-giving and volunteering brands into the group.
Functionality
Submittable is a platform for running grants, scholarships, fellowships, awards, relief funds, and employee-giving and volunteering programmes, built on a configurable submission, review and decision workflow. Forms use branching logic, and applicants can invite collaborators to edit a submission together before the lead applicant submits. Reviewers score applications in a shared interface, staff communicate with applicants from the same system, and a Funds feature tracks and pays out awards against a budget. Advanced Reporting analyses any field across forms, from applicant demographics to year-on-year programme results, and a public API supports integrations.
Implementation model
Self-service, with strong included support across email, phone, chat, and a 24/7 live representative. Over half of customers launch within 14 days.
Hosting
Cloud-hosted by the vendor.
