Country: Germany

German civil society funds itself through membership dues and donations. A dense, competitive domestic market of small to mid-sized German software companies has grown up around it.

Nearly every fundraising product generates the Zuwendungsbestätigung, the statutory donation receipt required for a donor’s gift to qualify for tax relief.

GoBD-compliant bookkeeping is a set of German rules for how digital financial records must be kept, exported and audited. It is close to a baseline requirement. Most products pair it with export to DATEV, the country’s standard accounting-data format.

Several systems also administer Bußgeldverwaltung: court-ordered donations paid under §153a of the Criminal Procedure Code. A prosecutor can discontinue a minor criminal case if the accused pays a set sum to a registered nonprofit instead of facing prosecution. Because it is a legal mechanism rather than a charitable gift, several systems track it as its own record type.

FundraisingBox and easyVerein are fixed-model domestic products. GRÜN MFplus is built on SAP as a larger accelerator product.
