SmartyGrants

Organisation & background

SmartyGrants is a product of Our Community, an Australian social-purpose business founded in 2000. It launched in 2009 as what the vendor calls Australia’s first cloud-based grants administration system, and has a large base of grantmakers in Australia and New Zealand, with expansion into the UK and Europe under way.

Functionality

SmartyGrants is a no-code grants-administration platform built around isolated per-organisation Instances, each supporting unlimited programs, rounds, applications and users. So a large funder can run many distinct grant rounds side by side without them interfering with each other. It offers automatic tax/charity-status verification against the Australian Business Register (and New Zealand’s equivalent), auto-populating applicant identity, plus configurable checklists and rule-based assessment tasks with multi-assessor visibility controls. Acquittal and progress-report workflows link back to the originating application.

Localised features

Charity-status verification checks the Australian and New Zealand national registers. SmartyGrants UK hosts data in the United Kingdom under GDPR.

Implementation model

Self-service (no-code by design, sold with a free trial); optional paid configuration and managed-services support are available for organisations wanting more hands-on help.

Hosting

Cloud-hosted by the vendor, no-code and cloud-based, with local data hosting.
