Organisation & background
ShulCloud was created in 2011. It operates under Shulware alongside sister product Congregation Connect. A 2021 investigation by the Forward found that its ultimate parent, Togetherwork (Brooklyn, US), also owns several of ShulCloud’s historic competitors, including Chaverware, jVillage and ShulSuite.
Functionality
ShulCloud is a cloud-based synagogue management system combining a member and family database with dues billing, donation processing, event and calendar scheduling, and High Holiday seating assignment. Membership records track family relationships, Yahrzeit dates and the Hebrew calendar, with custom fields addable to Donor/Person/Account records and an online member portal for bill payment, event sign-up and profile updates. An integrated website builder and CMS let synagogues manage public content. Data can be imported from most competing systems.
Implementation model
Vendor-assisted self-service: synagogues sign up directly and pay a monthly fee across several pricing tiers, with optional paid onboarding/migration packages available depending on data complexity.
Hosting
Cloud-hosted by the vendor (ShulCloud/Shulware).
