Organisation & background
Dolibarr is a free, open-source (GPL) general ERP/CRM platform built by a community of several hundred contributors, available through self-hosting or numerous third-party hosting and SaaS providers. It isn’t nonprofit-specific. Membership is handled through a bundled Module AdhĂ©rents add-on.
Functionality
Dolibarr is a general-purpose open-source ERP/CRM with a built-in membership module for associations. An Adherent object tracks dues (cotisation) status separately from the membership (adhĂ©sion) period, and multiple member types can carry different dues rules. Members link to generic Tiers records for shared invoicing and banking, and Extrafields let admins add no-code custom fields. A Module Builder can scaffold entirely new custom modules and object types with their own database tables, and a DoliStore marketplace adds third-party association-specific modules. The vendor’s own wiki states the module isn’t suited to associations with over 5,000 members or payroll needs.
Localised features
DoliAsso, a free Dolibarr-based hosted association service, markets itself as French-hosted and data-sovereign. Otherwise, hosting and compliance depend on how it’s deployed, since Dolibarr can be self-hosted or hosted by a third party.
Implementation model
You can set it up yourself, or use a third-party partner. Specialist integrator agencies also offer paid configuration and support.
Hosting
You can choose: vendor-hosted (SaaS) or self-hosted. DoliAsso offers free French-hosted SaaS; numerous independent hosting providers also exist.
