Austrian civil society is organised around formal association structures. Software here is shaped mainly by how continuously an organisation must prove its eligibility for tax benefits.

Since the mid-2010s, this has meant automatically reporting every donor’s details to the tax office through FinanzOnline, the government’s online tax portal. To do this without transmitting a donor’s name directly, products generate an encrypted personal identifier, the vbPK, matched against Austria’s central residents register.

Membership administration runs on a separate identifier, the ZVR-Zahl, a central association-register number that several products use as their core organising structure.

PROSPERUS and Vereinsplaner are domestic Austrian builds. easyVerein is a German product adapted to Austrian rules.
