Organisation & background
Blackbaud, Inc. was founded in 1981. Blackbaud CRM is the company’s longer-established product for large organisations, built on the Infinity platform and predating the cloud-native Raiser’s Edge NXT. It is aimed at large nonprofits, universities and healthcare foundations.
Functionality
Blackbaud CRM, also marketed as Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM, is a fundraising and constituent-management system for large nonprofits, universities, healthcare foundations and international charities. It covers prospect research and major-donor relationship management, multichannel campaigns, membership and ticketing, higher-education financial aid, and fund accounting and grantmaking. It runs on Blackbaud’s Infinity platform, shared with Altru and ResearchPoint, and developers using Visual Studio, VB.NET or C# can build new object types and screens, not just add fields, which calls for dedicated technical resource.
Localised features
Blackbaud’s own Gift Aid Services material states Blackbaud CRM is designed to rules set by HMRC, the UK’s tax authority, recording Gift Aid declarations on supporter records and producing R.68 claim reports, the HMRC form for reclaiming Gift Aid tax.
Implementation model
Delivered directly by the vendor’s own team: Deep customisation runs through the Infinity SDK, closer to bespoke software development than SaaS configuration.
Hosting
You can choose: self-hosted, or a vendor/third-party cloud. Self-host, Blackbaud’s own cloud, or independent third-party private hosting, with hosting choice a significant factor in overall cost.
