UNIO and WebSIDI

Organisation & background

UNIO and WebSIDI were commissioned and are run by SICEI, the Italian Bishops’ Conference’s own IT office, as the evolution of the earlier Sipa.net system the CEI distributed to parishes from 2004. Each diocese formally joins the CEI project before extending access to its own parishes.

Functionality

UNIO and WebSIDI is a parish and diocese platform offered to dioceses rather than sold competitively. The web-based UNIO covers the parish registry, sacramental records with CEI-standard certificates and pre-marriage inquiry paperwork, parish accounting and property on templates the diocese distributes, mass times and events, and a structured data channel to the curia, while WebSIDI serves the diocese. A Protocollo/Pratiche module, built on the Archipro case-management platform, tracks formal correspondence. A merger of the two into one environment, UNISIDI, was announced in 2025.

Localised features

WebSIDI’s diocesan layer includes dedicated reporting and accounting for Italy’s 8×1000 funds, the share of Italian income tax allocated to religious bodies, as a core national reporting obligation to the CEI, the Italian Bishops’ Conference. It’s built entirely around CEI-defined registry, sacrament, and reporting standards, with no relevance outside the Italian Catholic Church.

Implementation model

Delivered directly by the vendor’s own team: Adoption runs through the diocese joining the CEI project, not a commercial procurement process; onboarding-material quality varies by diocese.

Hosting

Cloud-hosted by the vendor: Runs entirely on SICEI’s own cloud infrastructure.
