Bénévalibre

Organisation & background

Bénévalibre is a free, open-source (AGPLv3) French project. It was developed by the cooperative Cliss XXI, is steered by Crajep Bourgogne-Franche-Comté through an open community committee, and launched in 2019.

Functionality

Bénévalibre is a deliberately narrow, open-source volunteer-hours tracking and valorisation (valuing volunteer time in monetary terms) tool for French associations, usable via a free shared public instance or self-hosting. It records ‘actions de bénévolat’ tagged by configurable categories, with an optional volunteering-level field for expertise and an optional project dimension. Role-based permissions cover new-arrival, association leader, and platform administrator roles, with moderated association and volunteer registration, and recorded data can be exported as CSV or ODS. Its own documentation states directly that it doesn’t track in-kind donations or waived expense reimbursements.

Localised features

A volunteer’s logged hours can support a separate, manual declaration on France’s government-run Compte Bénévole site, using the association’s RNA, national association-registry number, and SIREN, business-registration number, and validated by a designated ‘valideur CEC.’ This feeds into the Compte d’Engagement Citoyen, a scheme that converts volunteer hours into training-rights credits. But it’s a manual government process, not an automatic transmission from Bénévalibre itself.

Implementation model

Self-service: No vendor; a free shared public instance requires no installation, or an association can self-host.

Hosting

You can choose: vendor-hosted (SaaS) or self-hosted. A free shared public instance at app.benevalibre.org, or self-hosting on an association’s or hosting collective’s own server.
