KiKartei

Organisation & background

KW-Software AG, based in Kleindöttingen, canton Aargau, has made parish-administration software for over 20 years and serves well over 1,000 parish communities, Kirchgemeinden, far beyond its original target of around 100.

Functionality

KiKartei is a web-based member and address administration platform purpose-built for Swiss Catholic and Reformed parishes of any size, from small individual parishes to large federations. Its defining feature is direct integration with cantonal and municipal population registers, so member moves in and out are captured automatically rather than re-keyed by parish staff. Around this sit a household view, rites and pastoral-data (Kasualien) tracking, multi-tenancy for parishes sharing one instance, room and worship-service booking, document management, and a companion mobile app (K!Mobil) for volunteer scheduling and time-attestation.

Localised features

Exchanges data directly with cantonal and municipal population registers in Aargau, Basel-Landschaft, Basel-Stadt, Fribourg, Lucerne, Thurgau and Zurich. A Sedex interface, Switzerland’s secure data-exchange platform, for canton Bern is planned through the GEVER module.

Implementation model

Delivered directly by the vendor. Migration coordinated via TeamViewer or phone, with a three-hour introductory course available.

Hosting

Cloud-hosted by the vendor at Green Datacenter AG in canton Aargau, Switzerland. A GEVER document and business-process module was announced for late 2025.
