iKnow Church is part of Church Edit, based in Birmingham, England, founded in 2002. It has a large church customer base, and has been an Official Church of England Software Partner since 2018.
Functionality
iKnow Church is a church management system covering people records, safeguarding, finance, groups/rotas and events. The People module offers unlimited custom fields, custom access levels and journey/milestone tracking that can trigger pastoral tasks. Groups and Networks manages small groups, with Teams and Rotas handling volunteer team scheduling. Safeguarding is a deep, isolated module with a distinct Safeguarding Lead role, Finance handles native card/Direct Debit giving and segregated giving across multiple legal charities in one system, and Events covers calendar, ticketing, child check-in and rooms.
Localised features
One-click Gift Aid submission to HMRC, the UK’s tax authority, with a thirtyone:eight DBS, the UK’s background-check agency, Update Service integration. Church of England-specific modules include The Life Events Diary, APCM/PCC, the parish’s annual meeting and governing council, and direct Parish Returns submission.
Implementation model
Self-service: Role-based ‘Get Started Guides’ rather than an assigned consultant; reactive support only.
Hosting
Cloud-hosted by the vendor, with each church’s data kept in its own isolated database and backed up nightly.
