Organisation & background
Dynamics 365 is developed by Microsoft. Microsoft stopped selling its packaged nonprofit product, Fundraising and Engagement, to new customers at the end of 2024, with support ending at the end of 2026. The free Common Data Model and Dataverse framework remain, and every country-specific Dynamics accelerator in this list is built on them.
Functionality
Dynamics 365 supplies the shared Dataverse data model underlying every Dynamics 365 nonprofit accelerator (standard entities for constituents, donations, pledges and the like) so each third-party accelerator shares a common technical foundation rather than a bespoke one. Microsoft no longer ships nonprofit-specific business logic or UI itself; that layer is built and sold independently by each implementation partner. New entities and fields can be created by anyone building on it.
Localised features
Country-specific compliance features, such as UK Gift Aid, German SEPA and donation receipts, or Canadian CRA receipting, are provided by partner-built accelerators rather than by Microsoft.
Implementation model
Not directly implementable as a standalone product. Access requires Dynamics 365/Power Platform licensing, with a partner-built accelerator layered on top. Microsoft offers no nonprofit implementation service of its own, since its Fundraising and Engagement product was retired.
Hosting
Dataverse and Power Platform run on Microsoft Azure only. Some related products, such as Business Central, also support on-premises or hybrid deployment, and sovereign and government-cloud options are available for specific jurisdictional requirements.
