Organisation & background
Harlequin Software Ltd, based in Wiltshire, England, is family-connected and independently owned, founded in 1986. Its customers are concentrated in hospital, hospice, welfare and faith charities.
Functionality
Harlequin Software is a CRM for UK charities, used particularly by hospitals and hospices, welfare and faith organisations, education providers and museums, covering both fundraising and service delivery on one system. It is offered as CRM Server, on-premises or hosted, and CRM Web on Azure, alongside Charitable Accounting, an NHS Patients’ Monies system and FT Membership. Contacts cover donors, patients, beneficiaries, volunteers and organisations, with add-on modules for events, volunteers, room and activity bookings, and gift shop and stock. The Design module lets administrators build custom screens with their own fields without vendor development.
Localised features
Charitable Accounting is SORP-compliant, the UK charity accounting standard, built specifically for the NHS, the UK’s National Health Service, charitable sector. A named Consent tool addresses UK GDPR informed-consent versus legitimate-interest legal bases. Gift Aid integration with HMRC, the UK’s tax authority, and GDPR compliance are positioned as core strengths, informed by referrals to the Charity Commission and HMRC.
Implementation model
Delivered directly by Harlequin.
Hosting
CRM Server: you can choose on-premises or vendor-hosted. CRM Web, by contrast, is Azure-based SaaS only, single-tenant (dedicated infrastructure per customer, not shared).
