Cornerstone

Organisation & background

Kommunion AS, based in Askim, Norway, was founded in 2000, and Cornerstone has been in development since the mid-2000s. It has hundreds of Norwegian customers. It closed a former Moscow office because of the war in Ukraine.

Functionality

Cornerstone is a cloud CRM for Norwegian voluntary organisations, faith communities and congregations, combining donor and member management with a public website builder run from the same admin. It covers paid and unpaid membership, dues invoicing including dues paid by a third party, a member self-service page and a full correspondence history, with email, SMS and consent management. E-commerce, invoicing, voucher posting, account reconciliation and e-learning with certification are included, and groups and members can be shown on a map. A Frifond module handles Norway’s national youth-organisation grant scheme, from application through fund distribution to report approval.

Localised features

Administers Frifond, a national grant scheme for children’s and youth organisations run jointly by LNU, Norway’s national youth council, and Bufdir, the state directorate for children, youth and family affairs. Includes Nets AvtaleGiro/KID giro and Stripe card-giving integrations, BankID, ID-porten, Norway’s national digital ID, and Norwegian SMS-gateway integrations, and Vipps for Frifond dues. A ‘Kirkebok’ congregation record-keeping feature serves trossamfunn, legally recognised religious communities.

Implementation model

You can set it up yourself, or use a third-party partner. Named accountancy-firm resellers (KNIF Regnskap, Accountor Hamar, OrgService) sell alongside direct vendor sales, and it requires a demo request rather than self-service signup.

Hosting

Cloud-hosted by the vendor (cloud-based).
