Friendly Manager is a New Zealand vendor founded in 2007, with a substantial base of sports clubs reaching several hundred thousand active members in total. A 2023/24 merger with Hello Club under a new ‘Frello’ parent brand is only partially complete. The two product brands still operate under separate legal names.
Functionality
Friendly Manager is club and membership software for sports clubs, designed around three ways clubs run: fixed-roster team sports, rolling class enrolment, and squad and safety-roster water sports. Online registration feeds member profiles that track teams, gear and attendance in real time, and membership follows club-defined terms and seasons. It tracks coach, official and volunteer qualifications, takes venue bookings with direct payment, and offers competition management with draws, results and umpire allocation, used for national events. A holiday-programme scheduler serves class-based sports, and a club website synced with the app is included.
Localised features
Integrates with Xero for accounting and inventory, with stock tracking and reorderable merchandise.
Implementation model
Delivered directly by the vendor, with a customised onboarding session, ongoing phone, video and email support, and guidance for clubs switching from another system.
Hosting
Cloud-hosted by the vendor: A web-based hub accessible “anytime, anywhere”.
