ChurchTools

Organisation & background

ChurchTools Innovations GmbH, based in Karlsruhe, Germany, began in 2004 as a single-congregation project by Pastor Jens-Martin Rauen, and was incorporated under CEO Matthias Huber in the mid-2010s. It has a large worldwide customer base across four products.

Functionality

ChurchTools is a church-administration system built around a consistent module set (People, Groups, Calendars, Resources, Events, Wiki, Check-in and Chat) designed so a congregation’s staffing, rooms, services and volunteer rosters all sit on one shared record rather than in separate spreadsheets. Calendar visibility, for instance, is structurally tied to the Groups/People model rather than a bolt-on permission layer. A companion, independently auditor-certified GoBD-compliant Finance module adds expert and simplified bookkeeping views, automatic per-person donation-comparison tracking, and collective donation receipts.

Localised features

Hosted in Germany for GDPR compliance. Collective and individual donation receipts, Sammelbestätigungen and Spendenbescheinigungen, are generated from the finance module, which works in euros.

Implementation model

Self-service, with the Academy help centre and email support, plus optional setup, training and migration services.

Hosting

Cloud-hosted by the vendor, hosted in Germany for GDPR compliance.
