Software4Nonprofits, based in Toronto, Canada, was founded in 2007, tracing back to a 1999 Windows product. It offers three products under the DONATION brand: DONATION Classic, in three deployment variants, DONATION Online, and DONATION Pro, the former Flipcause platform it acquired and renamed.
Functionality
DONATION is donor-tracking, donation-recording and receipting software for small and mid-sized charities, churches and nonprofits, focused on record-keeping rather than fundraising campaigns. It comes as three separate products: Classic, a Windows program for tracking donors and printing tax receipts, mail merges and reports, installed on one computer or a network or hosted in the cloud; Online, a simpler web-based version; and Pro, formerly Flipcause, which adds online donation forms, event ticketing, peer-to-peer fundraising and built-in payment processing.
Localised features
Split-receipting and non-cash gifts-in-kind rules compliant with CRA, Canada’s tax authority, with bilingual French/English, or French-only, Quebec receipts that include an extra provincial-tax-filing copy. Separate US and Australia receipt formats are also supported.
Implementation model
Self-service, across all three product lines. A 30-day free trial includes full features, and first-run setup offers either a fresh install or a restore from backup. A one-directional, menu-driven self-service migration path is also available, moving customers from Classic to Online.
Hosting
Vendor-hosted or self-hosted: Classic Standard and Local Network are installed locally or on a network, while OnDemand, Online and Pro are cloud-hosted, with OnDemand delivered through partner ACS Technologies. DONATION Pro supports two-factor authentication.
