Bonterra Apricot

Organisation & background

Bonterra Apricot originated with Social Solutions, founded in 2000. It was acquired by Apax Partners in 2021 and folded into Bonterra (formed in 2022), positioned as the basis of Bonterra’s case-management line ahead of sibling products ETO and Penelope.

Functionality

Bonterra Apricot is case-management software for nonprofits and public-sector agencies, organised into sites and programmes with access controlled through permission sets. Administrators build forms without code and set up the forms and reports each programme uses. It includes an attendance tracker and three reporting tools: native reporting, Apricot Results Reporting and the AI-assisted Impact Hub. Compliance modules support homeless services and services for violence survivors, and Apricot Connect is a mobile-friendly participant portal that shows each participant only the fields chosen for them.

Localised features

States compliance with HIPAA, the US health-data privacy law, and FERPA, the US student-data privacy law. Apricot for Homeless Services aligns with HUD’s HMIS reporting standards, and Apricot for Violence Survivors with HUD, VOCA and VAWA reporting. Impact Hub includes a US Census Bureau dataset for community context.

Implementation model

Self-service: A formal Apricot Certification Exam and paid training/support packages exist; realistically requires substantial in-house training or paid consulting for complex, compliance-heavy deployments.

Hosting

Cloud-hosted by the vendor: Part of Bonterra’s AWS-partnered cloud infrastructure per the company’s own case-study material.
