Kilta

Organisation & background

Kehätieto Oy was founded in 1989. Kilta is used by a modest number of Finnish organisations, including Tehy, SOSTE, WWF Finland and Invalidiliitto.

Functionality

Kilta is a member register for Finnish membership organisations (yhdistys), meeting the statutory member-list requirement of Finland’s Associations Act and extended with add-on modules configured for each customer. Organisations define their own member types, dues categories, committees and honours. Addresses update weekly from Posti, the Finnish postal service, and memberships are deactivated automatically when a member’s death is notified. It supports federation billing, where a national body invoices local associations’ dues on their behalf. The Kilta Tapahtumat events module adds waiting lists, public event pages, integrated invoicing and name badges.

Localised features

Built around Finland’s Associations Act, yhdistyslaki 503/1989, statutory member-list requirement, with a hosting choice between the vendor’s cloud and ‘an environment of the trade union’s own choosing’.

Implementation model

Configured individually per customer rather than self-service. The vendor emphasizes a close working partnership with each customer, and one case study describes a competitive retender followed by a jointly managed implementation project.

Hosting

You can choose: SaaS or self-hosted, in a customer-chosen environment.
