Organisation & background
In-Contact is built by 4Front Computing, a small Durban-area vendor active since at least the mid-2010s. It has a smaller South African customer base than fellow local system ActiveDonor.
Functionality
In-Contact is a donor and beneficiary CRM for South African NPOs and PBOs, covering contacts, bulk messaging, donations and Section 18A tax certificates. Donors, volunteers, staff and beneficiaries are distinct contact types, segmented by type, tags or custom fields, and a Prospects pipeline tracks donor acquisition. Newsletters, SMS, WhatsApp messages, surveys and event invitations go out from the system. Debit orders and pledges are tracked separately from one-off gifts, and certificates can be issued, reissued and cancelled. An optional monitoring and evaluation module adds an offline mobile app for beneficiary records, attendance, interventions and impact surveys.
Localised features
Section 18A certificate generation via SARS, South Africa’s tax authority, with a missing-data donor-request workflow. Includes a dedicated POPIA, South Africa’s data-protection law, compliance page and downloadable guide, plus WhatsApp messaging.
Implementation model
Delivered directly by the vendor’s own team: Implementation and training bundled into every plan; support runs through direct, named vendor contacts rather than a ticketing system.
Hosting
Cloud-hosted by the vendor, an online database. Hosting provider and region aren’t stated.
