Givebutter

Organisation & background

Givebutter was co-founded in 2016 by Max Friedman, Liran Cohen and Ari Krasner while students at George Washington University. It has raised venture funding, including a 2024 Series A led by Bessemer Venture Partners, and the vendor stated in 2026 that it is profitable.

Functionality

Givebutter is an all-in-one fundraising platform and donor CRM in which donors are asked at checkout whether to add an optional tip that funds the platform. Campaign types include donation forms, peer-to-peer fundraising pages, ticketed events and auctions, all feeding the contact records. A Wallet feature with Visa spend cards lets organisations spend directly from settled funds. Role-based permissions control access to campaigns, donations and contacts separately, with a mobile-only role for event staff, and integrations connect it to other tools.

Localised features

Integrates with Double the Donation for US corporate matching-gift lookup, and Givebutter Wallet issues Visa spend cards through Stripe and Celtic Bank.

Implementation model

Self-service. No certified-partner network; designed for rapid self-serve setup by nonprofits, student organisations and event organisers.

Hosting

Cloud-hosted by the vendor.
