Infoxchange SHIP

Organisation & background

Infoxchange is an Australian not-for-profit social enterprise. SHIP was commissioned by the Commonwealth Government with the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare from 2011 for the national Specialist Homelessness Services data collection, and is used by a large number of homelessness services.

Functionality

Infoxchange SHIP is an Australian client and case-management system configured for specialist homelessness services, built on the same platform as Infoxchange SRS. Caseworkers record case notes, case plans and client goals on a single client record. Built-in error checking and validation support the mandatory Specialist Homelessness Services data collection, with de-identified data extracted for government reporting. A Find My Way integration, added in 2025, shows real-time bed availability from Infoxchange’s Ask Izzy service directory.

Localised features

Built-in compliance with the SHS, Australia’s Specialist Homelessness Services, National Minimum Data Set for Commonwealth and AIHW, Australia’s national health and welfare statistics agency, reporting. State-branded variants, such as Queensland’s QHIP, run on the same underlying platform.

Implementation model

Not a commercial signup. Access is provisioned through a government contract, sector programme, or direct agreement with Infoxchange. SHIP is free for eligible agencies, with account creation supported by a dedicated SHS collection support hotline.

Hosting

Cloud-hosted by the vendor: a web-based service hosted by Infoxchange Australia. Infrastructure is stated to meet or exceed Australian Government Protective Security Protocols.
