Organisation & background
ClubZap was founded in 2016 by Declan Murphy and Aidan Quilligan, both members of the Sixmilebridge GAA hurling club in Co. Clare, Ireland; it began as a side project for their own local club before growing organically. Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, it is a club-management app used across Ireland, its original market, and the UK, with a substantial number of clubs.
Functionality
ClubZap is a club-management app and web platform for membership payments, communications and fundraising, run as one app shared by many clubs rather than a branded app per club. Members sign up through the club website, the app or a shared link and pay through Stripe with an instant receipt, and admins get attendance tracking, payment follow-up and CSV exports. Fundraising covers monthly draws, Split the Pot, lottery management, and merchandise and ticket sales. Messaging is offered as an alternative to WhatsApp groups, and the vendor also provides compliance guidance on data protection, child protection, photo consent and financial regulation.
Localised features
Integrates with Athletics Ireland and Basketball Ireland’s Game Day systems to check members’ payment and registration status without duplicate entry. Includes child-protection and safeguarding guidance for clubs coordinating volunteers around minors.
Implementation model
Self-service: Vendor-run setup and onboarding rather than a third-party partner; migration from a competitor platform marketed as quick and vendor-handled.
Hosting
Cloud-hosted by the vendor.
